Happy Record Store Day!

Saturday April 18, 2009 was the second annual Record Store Day. Music enthusiasts managed to tear themselves away from downloading MP3's of the new Britney Spears album and went out to support independent record stores nationwide. With the decline of CD sales (thanks to some hermits being unable to tear themselves from iTunes, and of course the economy in general), record stores are hurting more than ever. And it was great to see the shops full of music fans on this beautiful Saturday afternoon, but remember, don't wait till that one decisive day every year to support your favourite stores. I know we all have to count our pennies these days, but we have to feed each other, just like Woodstock, man!

Today, I had the good fortune of finding some cheap vinyl. In honour of "record store day", I went "buck bin diving" for the first time in years! Here are the treasures I found for a buck each:

-George Harrison: Dark Horse
-Original Soundtrack: Soul To Soul
-Firesign Theatre: How Can You Be in Two Places at Once When You're Not Anywhere At All
-Firesign Theatre: I Think We're All Bozos on this Bus
-Rolling Stones: Sticky Fingers
-Ramsey Lewis: The Best of...
-The Hues Corporation: The Best of...
-Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes Featuring Theodore Pendergrass: To Be True
-Steppenwolf: 7
-Ian and Sylvia: Four Strong Winds
-Ringo Starr: Ringo
-The Ventures: The Ventures
-First Choice: Armed and Extremely Dangerous
-Herbie Mann: Super Mann
-Richie Havens: Alarm Clock
-Fairport Convention: Full House

Having just acquired this website, I will make good on my new management policies and post reviews of these albums soon.

Happy record hunting!
Love,
The Doctor
